The Somerset Valley YMCA takes the holistic approach to health and wellness encompassing the spirit, mind and body connection with emphasis on prevention.
Rather than focusing on only the external body, our health & wellness programs convey information about nutrition and the internal road to a healthy lifestyle. Our programs will utilize both physical and spiritual skills to help you set and reach your exercise goals and adhere to them for lifelong benefits.
Program benefits:
Aerobic classes: strengthens the heart, improves the circulatory system, enhances lung capacity, mind/body connection

Ab Attack
An intense abdominal workout. It’s brief, but concentrated and provides the foundation for toned abs.
Beginner Step
Always wanted to try Step, but didn’t want to jump into the advanced class? Come and try our Beginner’s Step class – learn what “around the world”, “V Step”, and “U turn” is in Step language. All fun and no intimidation!
Boot Camp
All the best of “army training” with fun thrown in! This class contains classic conditioning training and mixes in out of the ordinary drills, for a challenging total body workout. Great for everyone from beginners to the most experienced!
Cardio Dance
Dance your way into shape in this instructor choreographed class. Have fun while working out.
Cardio Yoga
Never thought you could have a cardio workout while doing Yoga? Try this class and you’ll see a whole new side of Yoga you’ve never seen before.
Core Training
Train your whole core area including abs, glutes, and back muscles. Working these areas provides strength, stabilization, and improved posture.
Pilates
Basic mat work that will help you strengthen your core (abs, glutes, hip flexors and back)
through a series of controlled movements.
Strength Interval
Choreographed lifting to motivating music coupled with cardio drills. You will get a total workout and finish with killer abs.
Step/Abs & Step/Muscle Mix
Utilizing a step platform, move to the beat in an endless combo of different step patterns. Some Step classes will include muscle work and some Step classes will include ab work.
Sunrise Exercise
What a way to start your day! Get your heart pumping and shake out the morning blahs with this fast paced class that will lead you through choreographed step moves and lifting sequences for a great workout.
SV’s Power Pump
This choreographed class will have you pumpin’ iron (lifting weights) and developing lean muscle mass. By varying weight amount and lifting speed, you will reshape your body by building definition.
Yoga
Develop better balance, strength and flexibility while experiencing the pure joy of movement. The instructor will lead you through a series of flowing poses designed to nourish both the body and the soul.
Yoga Fitness
Learn to listen to your body as you lengthen and strengthen it using a series of instructor led poses. Poses may be a little more advanced in this class.
Yoga–lates
A wonderful combination of core work, body strength and flexibility training. Get the best of both worlds in this Yoga/Pilates mix.
