YMCA Adventure Guides (Coming in 2008!)

YMCA Adventure Guides is a parent-child program designed to help foster a lifetime of understanding and companionship and to strengthen the relationship between dads and their children.

As “YMCA Guides”, dads and kids explore adventures of fun, learning and mutual understanding. The immediate gain is evident - spending time together - but the long-term gains are even more significant. Not only will you build a solid foundation for a friendship that will last a lifetime, but you’ll also be helping to build and develop a set of skills and patterns that your children will carry with them into adolescence and adulthood.

TUMBLING TYKES (Ages 2 ½ - 4 )
(30 min.) Let your toddler explore movement in a safe, nurturing environment. Children love running over and through the obstacle course and playing fun parachute games. On Saturday combine with a swim class for a fun filled adventure.

SKIP (Ages 6 – 36 months)
(30 min.) This class is an introduction to the aquatic environment for parents and their children. Children will have fun exploring basic water skills and learning new songs in a safe, nurturing environment. Each child must be accompanied by an adult in the water.

Perch + (Ages 18 months - 4 )
(30 min.) Parents and children continue learning basic water skills while having fun. As swimmers progress and develop, Pike skills are introduced and swimmers begin to spend more time with the instructor. Each child must be accompanied by an adult in the water.

Pike with Parent (Ages 2 1/2 - 4 )
(30 min.) This Parent child class is designed for the student not quite ready to separate from their parents. The class includes instruction on basic paddle stroke, kicking skills, breath control, and floating skills. Each child must be accompanied by an adult in the water.
